Troubleshooting Your Breast Pump

It is recommended that the silicone components of the pumping kit, namely valves and membranes, be replaced every 3 months. These important components help create and maintain suction and may become worn after repeated use.

My breast pump does not turn on

The battery may require charging: Only use the power adapter that was supplied with the pump. Using a different power adapter could damage the device and void the warranty.

Be sure that the power adapter is properly connected to the wall outlet and to the pump when charging.

My breast pump is powered on, but there is no suction

Is there suction at the pump when not connected to a kit? Place a finger over the holes on the front of the pump to confirm that the pump is providing suction when powered on.

  • If there is no suction, contact Hygeia customer service.
  • If there is suction, then the kit may have an air leak somewhere?

Confirm that no kit components are damaged. Replace duckbill valves if worn or torn. Extra accessories are available for purchase at breast pump accessories in our online store.

Confirm that all kit components are properly and firmly connected

  1. Both ends of tubing to their connecting pieces
  2. Adapter to pump
  3. 3-piece backflow protector – You should hear a “click” once the 3-piece back flow protectors are properly fitted together. NOTE: When removing the backflow protector, twist and pull it straight out, away from the flange base. Do not bend the backflow protector to remove it. Doing so may result in damage.
  4. If you have the wearable PAS, check your diaphragm and cup cover cap to make sure they are properly assembled.
  5. Valve to flange base
  6. Flange funnel to flange base
